Pride of Australia nominee
Evan Bishop, a first year commerce student at Australian Catholic University’s (ACU) Melbourne Campus has been nominated for a Pride of Australia Medal.
Putting his study into practice, Evan is managing a grant from the Victorian Government in conjunction with the Frankston Youth Resource Centre. The money is being used to organise events for the youth of the area.
The 18-year-old said the events included an annual battle of the bands competition, and Drown Out swimming pool family day.
Evan has dedicated much of his time to serving the community. He was awarded Frankston’s 2010 Young Citizen of the Year, and nominated for an Order of Australia Award in 2009.
He said the enjoyment and social side of volunteering made it an easy choice.
“I get to see my friends and the business and events management experience is an incentive to help myself and the community.”
