New and improved staff awards

Published: Monday 1st February 2016

I am pleased to announce the University’s new Vice-Chancellor’s Staff Excellence Awards. The Vice-Chancellor’s Awards have been substantially improved to celebrate the efforts of the outstanding people in our organisation.

The awards process was reviewed last year resulting in a larger nomination pool and allowing teams and individuals to nominate themselves. There has also been a substantial increase in prizes and our awards are now comparable with other universities.

Successful individual awards are granted at $500 and team awards are granted at $2,500 (per team), and the Vice-Chancellor’s Medal for Excellence is granted at $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for a team.

I will award two commendations per category: Mission Excellence, Service Excellence, Innovation Excellence, Excellence in Student Experience and Research Excellence.

There also will be one overall peak Vice-Chancellor’s Medal recipient selected from these commendations. An award ceremony will be held in late 2016 for all award recipients and the Medal recipient will only be named at this ceremony.

A copy of the policy and the nomination form is located on the University’s website.

A Lunch Box Session will be delivered on Wednesday, 2 March 2016 at 12.00pm to provide more information. This session will be delivered by Ms Simone Chetcuti, Manager, Office of the Vice-Chancellor (OVC). Please register via Staff Connect by Monday, 29 February 2016.
