ACU Engagement warmly invites you to a talk on Kicking Goals Together, with Dr Matthew Pink, Community Engagement Facilitator.
Kicking Goals Together (KGT) is a program that combines Futsal with a job skills education program and support for English language and leadership skills for youth from refugee, migrant, and international student backgrounds.
Since 2016, KGThas engaged with youth from refugee and migrant backgrounds living on Brisbane’s Northside in combined football and education opportunities. Many of these youth do not have the financial and logistical resources to participate in Brisbane’s ‘regular’ sporting competitions. The education programs attached to these programs arose from youth expressing the desire for support in seeking employment, networking, and recently, language and leadership development.
In 2016, KGT won the Vice-Chancellor’s award for outstanding community engagement.
In his talk,Matthew will discuss the principles, processes, outcomes, and learnings related to the development of KGT as a generative community life space where there have been mutual benefits for community members, students, staff, stakeholder organisations, and the University. Event details
