This is the second of three staff educational articles to help you understand how the Student Portal works and how you can benefit from using it.
- What is the Student Portal?
It is a website that aims to improve our students’ online experience by providing simple and intuitive access to their schedule, student systems including; single sign on to LEO, Email, Student Connect, Tutorial Direct and OrgSync (with more to come) news, notifications and announcements as well as all the information they need to succeed at ACU.
- How do you access the Student Portal?
You can access the Student Portal from the ACU website by clicking on the ‘current students’ button on the top right hand side, then logging in using your ACU network login details.
- What sort of information is on the Student Portal?
For new students, they can accept their offer, enrol and prepare for orientation. For existing students, they can see their timetable and co-curricular activities by day, week and month, access their email, units and results information, targeted messages including announcements and news, and all the information they need to succeed as a student here at ACU.
- Why do I need to use the Student Portal?
Staff can use the portal to communicate news, announcements and upcoming events to students targeted by campus and other attributes such as – UG / PG – commencing and continuing – domestic and international. ACU uses the portal to keep in regular contact with our students and it is important for all staff to know how the portal works so that we are able to communicate the right information to our students.
- What are the benefits of using the Student Portal?
The portal is designed to be a one stop shop with personalised information for our students, so if you have a message for students, be sure to add it to the portal. Personalisation in the student portal has also been customised down to campus, enrolment and study levels allowing more streamlined communication with these groups.
- What enhancements have just been released for the portal?
During vacation week (25 September – 1 October) IT upgraded the Student Portal infrastructure. Although most of the enhancements are in the backend of the system, what is apparent is the portal is now loading faster and if you click on a student portal link, once you have logged in, you don’t have to click on the link again to load the page.
