Educating NZ judges
Published: Monday 3rd August 2015
Laurence Boulle, foundation Law Professor in the Thomas Academy of Law, North Sydney, has been invited to conduct a training course for New Zealand judges.
In this jurisdiction judges are authorised to conduct judicial settlement conferences for litigating parties prior to their matters heading to hearing.
The two-day workshop on 6 and 7 August in Wellington is designed to enhance judges’ dispute resolution skills and techniques.
Professor Boulle has conducted similar courses for two decades throughout Australia and in several other jurisdictions.
While in New Zealand he will also conduct workshops for practising mediators, with a particular focus on difficulties encountered in mediations involving mainly hard bargaining over money.
