ACU submits Annual Report to the Workplace Gender Equality Agency
Published: Friday 8th July 2016
ACU lodged its annual public report with the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) on Monday 4 July 2016. Lodgment of this report meets the requirements of the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012 (WGEA Act).
The report is available for review at Gender Equality@ACU on ACU’s staff website. As staff members of ACU, you are invited to make comments on the report either to the University at firstname.lastname@example.org directly to WGEA. Please refer to WGEA’s guidelines on the process on their website.
ACU continues to be recognised as a gender equality leader, receiving the highly regarded Employer of Choice for Gender Equality Citation in 2015 for the fourth time. Preparation of the 2016 application is currently underway.
The ACU Gender Equality Strategy 2015-2020 (GES) and Action Plan support the University to build on its strong gender equality foundations, and further embed a diverse and inclusive workplace that support the University’s continued success.
Results of the Gender Equality Pulse Survey conducted in April 2016 are being used to inform the implementation of the GES. Over 1030 staff completed the survey and responded to questions regarding key gender equality issues as follows:
83.9% agreed that their manager supports equality between women and men
86.4% agreed that they had the flexibility to manage work and caring responsibilities
79.2% agreed that sex-based harassment is not tolerated at ACU
The results were positive, with responses indicating staff perceive that the University is tracking well in its approach to supporting gender equality. Ongoing monitoring and further consultation with staff will facilitate an inclusive and supportive workplace that where they can reach their potential.
