A Respectful Conversation on Marriage
Published: Wednesday 30th September 2015
ACU will be holding a panel discussion titled A Respectful Conversation on Marriage today from 6pm to 7.30pm in Melbourne in the Mercy Lecture Theatre, 17 Young St.
We invite you to join us for light refreshments after the panel from 7:30-8:30pm.
The Catholic Church’s position on marriage is well known but not well understood.
As a Catholic university, ACU is committed to an intellectual tradition that actively encourages a dialogue between faith and reason.
The University acknowledges there is a range of views on marriage in our community. Our commitment is to be a place where a respectful dialogue can occur.
ACU is a diverse community where all students and staff are valued. Our diversity provides us with an opportunity to support, challenge and learn from one another and from the Catholic intellectual tradition.
Bringing together Catholic and other perspectives, panellists will explore the topic of marriage in a respectful conversation.
Melbourne’s panel discussion will be moderated by ACU Director of Government, Policy and Strategy Julian Leeser and will hear from:
- Bishop Terry Curtin, Auxiliary Bishop of Melbourne
- Father Frank Brennan SJ AO
- Tim Wilson, Australian Human Rights Commission
- Miranda Devine, News Limited columnist
Members of the audience will be given the opportunity to submit questions to the panel.
