World expert joins ACU School of Business

ACU is delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Yannis Georgellis as Professorial Fellow at the University's School of Business.

Professor Yannis Georgellis currently serves as Professor of Management and Deputy School Director (Research & Enterprise) at Kent Business School, University of Kent, UK. He is globally known for his work on happiness, adaptation, and employee well-being. Spanning across several disciplines, his research explores psychological aspects of decision-making processes within the general context of employee happiness, well-being, and engagement, and their impact on organisational performance.

Professor Georgellis has published numerous articles in the areas of human resource management, organisational behaviour, applied psychology and behavioural economics. His work has appeared in some of the world’s most highly regarded business and management journals.

Professor Georgellis’ work has attracted several thousand citations. He is a top 5% author in the REPEC worldwide citation rankings and a Distinguished Associate of the International Atlantic Economic Society (IAES), alongside Nobel laureates Edmund Phelps, Robert A. Mundell, and James M. Buchanan.

My ongoing scholarship on employee well-being, human resource management and organizational behaviour is closely aligned with this scholarly arena.”

Professor Thomas Lange, Associate Dean Research and Director (elect) of the Centre for Sustainable HRM and Well-being initiated Professor Georgellis’ appointment. He added: “The reputation of Professor Yannis Georgellis’ work speaks for itself. His contributions in the subjective well-being and behavioural adaptation arenas have been researched and adopted by a growing network of researchers all around the world. He is an immensely influential scholar and thought-leader, and his experience, expertise and wisdom will be of tremendous value to the ACU School of Business. Professor Georgellis’ appointment commences on 1 July 2015.
