The Institute for Health and Ageing is seeking men aged 40-65 years to complete the ManGuard program. Volunteers need to be able to visit Melbourne’s CBD on two occasions for a brief appointment and their job must not include regular shift-work or manual labour.
ManGuard is an online health promotion program, designed to improve the heart health of men at midlife. The program helps participants identify an area of cardiovascular health they would like to improve, such as diet, physical activity, reduce alcohol consumption, or quit smoking.
Specifically, the program guides men to:
Increase their knowledge of cardiovascular health
Develop the essential skills for successful goal setting
Identify environmental, social and psychological barriers to successful goal achievement
Improve self-efficacy to promote positive health behaviours such as decreasing sedentary activities, smoking and alcohol use, and increasing physical activity, a healthy diet, and adaptive coping strategies.
If you or someone you know would like to sign up, please visit the ManGuard webpage to register your interest.
