ACU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Greg Craven, has been appointed to the Prime Minister's expert advisory panel for the Reform of the Federation White Paper.
In a speech at the weekend which commemorated Sir Henry Parkes, father of Australian federalism, Prime Minister Tony Abbott said that he wanted the commonwealth, states and territories to work together to improve their relationship, particularly around their revenue and spending responsibilities.
Professor Craven will join former South Australian Labor premier John Bannon; the former Victorian Liberal treasurer Alan Stockdale; the chief executive of the Business Council, Jennifer Westacott; the former West Australian attorney general Cheryl Edwards and the chairman of the Queensland Public Service Commission, Doug McTaggart.
The panel will advise the public servants working on the White Paper.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Greg Craven said he was honoured to be included in the panel.
"It is a great honour to be involved in such an important moment in reforming the federation within the constitutional framework," Professor Craven said.
The federalism white paper will be released before the 2016 federal election.
