New and revised policies, procedures and guidelines effective June 2017
At its meeting held on 22 June 2017, the ACUSCC considered a number of revised HR policies and associated documents relating to a range of employment provisions.
Following consultation, the Vice-Chancellor approved the following updated documents effective from 26 June 2017:
Updated First Aid Policy and Procedure:
First Aid Policy
First Aid Procedure
These documents have been updated to comply with WHS legislation and reflect best practise.
The First Aid Policy and Procedure also provides ‘up to date’ guidance to staff First Aid Officers about their role in delivering effective first aid responses that support ACU to maintain its safe campuses.
The procedure highlights that WHS risk assessments will inform the University’s decisions about first aid provisions and the recruitment of staff First Aid Officers.
How to access first aid
Access first aid by calling your local Concierge desk or staff First Aid Officer/s.
For ‘after hours’ first aid, activate the SafeZone App or call the ACU National Security Centre on 1300 729 452 or extension 8888.
New Incident and Hazard Reporting, Investigations and Corrective Actions Procedure
This procedure replaces the ACU Accident/Incident Reporting and Investigations Guidelines and is aligned with riskware, ACU’s incident and hazard reporting system and database, introduced in June 2016.
The procedure reinforces that both staff and students should log reports of incidents and hazards and Nominated Supervisors are responsible for reviewing these reports.
This review should inform the riskware Action Plans which are developed by Nominated Supervisors to reduce risks or resolve a report of a hazard.
Staff should also submit reports on behalf of visitors, volunteers and contractors.
The updated documents are available on the Policies & Procedures pages of the ACU website under HR and may be accessed via the links embedded above.
You may need to refresh the individual policy page to ensure that the latest version of the policy is displayed.
Accordingly, the Vice-Chancellor has revoked the following previously implemented policies and procedures, with effect from 26 June 2017:
* First Aid Policy (dated 22 December 2016)
* First Aid Procedures (dated 15 December 2016)
* ACU Accident/Incident Reporting and Investigations Guideline (dated May 2014)
