Support services for staff
ACU staff* can access free professional counselling sessions through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provided by AccessEAP.
The EAP can provide counselling sessions to staff members and their immediate family who are facing personal and/or work-related issues. ACU provides three one-hour counselling sessions per calendar year. The service is free, voluntary and confidential.
ACU’s current EAP provider is AccessEAP, which provides:
* a 24/7 service
* a rapid response time
* counselling sessions in person or over the phone.
* a free-call communications network
You can contact the EAP on 1800 818 728 or 1300 667 700. All EAP counsellors are independent of the University, and focused on supporting you to address any issues impacting your wellbeing.
Coping with disasters and traumatic events
In addition, ACU is committed to supporting staff who may be affected by disasters or other traumatic events. AccessEAP, the University's Employee Assistance Program provider has developed an information sheet which may be a helpful guide for creating the support they may need during such times.
* Excludes casual staff.
Support services for students
Staff members who come into contact with students who may be distressed are encouraged to refer to them to the free student counselling service. Students are able to seek counselling for any concern or life event that adversely affects their wellbeing.
