ACU is committed to the emotional and physical wellbeing of its staff. The University offers access to free professional counselling support to staff members* through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
The EAP can provide counselling sessions (in person or over the phone) to ACU staff members and their immediate family who are facing personal or work-related issues.
The service is free, voluntary and confidential.
ACU’s current EAP provider is ACCESS programs, which provides:
• a 24/7 service
• a rapid response time
• emergency telephone counselling
• a free-call communications network

ACU provides three one-hour counselling sessions per calendar year. As the EAP is designed to be a short-term intervention for immediate concerns, if you require further assistance, your counsellor may refer you to an external agency, or arrange for you to continue your sessions in a private capacity.
The EAP also provides a specialised support service to managers, team leaders and supervisors who are dealing with complex and emotional people management issues. This service is called 'Manager Support' - please visit the website for more details.
