Message from Associate Vice-Chancellor (Brisbane) Professor Jim Nyland: The Saint John Paul ll Building has just scooped its second Award from the Master Builders Association, receiving the prestigious Queensland State Award (on the back of its Brisbane City Award) for Educational Facilities over $5million, built in Queensland in 2015. This is an impressive benchmark for ACU.
We get the opportunity to celebrate this at the Blessing of the new and stunning Saint John Paul ll statue on 11th November by the Archbishop of Brisbane when the entire Brisbane campus will join His Grace and EPG colleagues to don sunnies and raise a glass, as a gesture of empathy and respect towards ‘Totus Tuus’ - like only the Sunshine State can.
There will be lots happening on campus on Remembrance Day including a series of ‘hard hat’ tours for those wishing to visit our new Student-led Clinic.
This project, led by Chris Gill, is developing well, with the opening anticipated for Semester 1 2016. It sees the extension of the existing healthcare clinic to provide additional services to the community and our students.
Extending the clinic across two floors will provide approximately double the existing space, housing seven new private consultation rooms each featuring the latest in recording technology. Two new observation teaching rooms will allow group consultation. The lower level floor will provide a new Exercise Physiology lab, tutorial rooms and the integration of planned ACUcom activity into the facility.
