As part of the University’s ongoing investment in the professional development of our staff, work is well advanced to establish a Capability Development Framework (CDF). The CDF describes the essential competencies needed in each of our staff members at ACU. A draft CDF has been developed with input internally from stakeholders across the University, and externally from professional services which focus on best practice for higher education. All staff are invited to give their feedback on the draft documentation.
The draft CDF represents a whole-of-organisation approach to developing and strengthening the capability needed in ACU’s workforce to support our Mission, Vision and Values and to achieve our strategic goals. The CDF assists staff and supervisors to gain a clear view of the core competencies that support staff to achieve excellence in their role. The competencies will support all people processes at ACU, including recruitment and selection, and probation. Hiring managers at ACU will be able to refer to the framework to facilitate strategic recruitment decisions when filling a role. The CDF can also be used to facilitate discussions between staff and their supervisors that identify professional development opportunities to support operating at higher competency levels.
