St. Patrick’s end of year Mass and luncheon
Published: Wednesday 16th December 2015
Message from Associate Vice Chancellor (Victoria) Dr John Ballard: Last Friday, people from the St. Patrick’s Campus came together to listen to carols, performed beautifully by the St. Patrick’s Choir under the leadership of Faye Dumont in the St. Mary of the Cross MacKillop Chapel and participate in the end of academic year mass, celebrated by Bishop Terry Curtin.
Mass was followed by a staff luncheon attended by the Vice Chancellor, retiring Pro-Chancellor Mr Ted Exell AM and incoming Pro-Chancellor Mr Julien O’Connell AM.
Whilst our Christmas luncheon is traditionally not an event for speeches, I took the opportunity to thank each of our staff for their unique contribution to the success of ACU and St. Patrick’s over another busy year and acknowledged the retirement of three long serving members of the University, our Pro-Chancellor Mr Ted Exell, Associate Professor Cecelia Winkleman and Mr Bob Hallet.
Next year is one of challenge and opportunity for the staff of St. Patrick’s as we continue to grow to meet the demand for our programs and research profile. We are planning for the expansion of teaching space on the car park on Victoria Parade, adjacent to the Mary Glowrey Building and aspire for this building to be complete by first semester 2019.
Once again, my sincere gratitude, both personally and on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, for the commitment, talent and hard work of each of our Campus team members.
I wish each of you a holy and peaceful Christmas and look forward to seeing you relaxed on your return for 2016.
With every best wish
