Sr Hilda Scott OSB is a Benedictine religious sister who came to prominence on the ABC Compass program, The Abbey.
In the TV series, five women from different backgrounds undertook a short stint as ‘contemplatives’ at Jamberoo Abbey , near Kiama, south of Sydney, where Hilda lives.
Sr Hilda’s wit, straight-forward nature and spiritual depth were a key element of the successful TV series.
The next best thing to doing a retreat at the Abbey is to use Sr Hilda’s reflections to help you go deeper in the spiritual life during the season of Lent, 2016.
A Lent program, produced by the Catholic Diocese of Wollongong, will be used by Campus Ministry team members at ACU this year. It is based on the theme of the Year of Mercy proclaimed by Pope Francis. It includes inspiring and challenging reflections from Sr Hilda and Fr Ken Barker MGL (Head of the Missionaries of God's Love) and promises to help participants “experience a personal encounter with our merciful God like never before.”
A free lunchtime Lent reflection group will meet on the Melbourne Campus during Lent each Thursday beginning 18 February and ending 24 March, from 12.35pm to 1.20pm. The venue will be in the Campus Ministry Lounge, Mezzanine level of DMB. Bring your own lunch and enjoy some soul food as well!
