Research participants wanted for dementia carers study

Published: Wednesday 16th September 2015

IHA are seeking family carers of people with dementia who are willing to share their daily experiences of caring with our research team. The findings from this project will assist the development of a community-based program to enhance the health and well-being of home-based carers.

We would appreciate ACU staff bringing this project to the attention of family or friends based in or near Melbourne who may be interested in participating.

Participation will involve a once-off interview of no more than 1 hour. The interview will be conducted at the home of the participant by a member of our research team (health professionals with current police checks), and be undertaken at a time that best suits the carer.  This project has full ethics approval from ACU’s Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC).

Carers who have already completed an interview have appreciated the opportunity to discuss their daily experiences of caring, and their needs. They have also found it to be a worthwhile and enjoyable experience.

A project flyer can be downloaded here (PDF 204 KB).

Queries about the project, or expressions of interest in participating can be forwarded to Ms Ashley Macleod via email at or telephone 03 9230 8103 or Dr Gemma Tatangelo via email at or telephone 03 9953 3722
