Research Ethics workshops

This workshop will cover the essentials for successfully navigating the ethics approval process at ACU. The workshop will cover:

  • the ACU online (ORION) ethics application form, guidelines and processes
  • the historical context and background of research ethics
  • the relevant Australian guidelines and legislation impacting upon research ethics, including:
    • working with children checks
    • research with vulnerable people
    • research with Indigenous Australian people
    • privacy and data storage
    • insurance and indemnity
  • ethical issues in research including:
    • risk and benefit
    • recruitment and consent
    • respect for persons

The workshop will be presented by Dr Nadia Crittenden, Chair, ACU Human Research Ethics Committee, and Ms Susanna Gorman, Research Ethics Manager. It will be offered in each state to allow opportunity for interaction, questions and discussion.
Supervisors are encouraged to attend this workshop.
