New book on online job hunting
Published: Friday 22nd April 2016
A new book with an ACU author on how to use online sites such as LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook to advance your career was published in the UK on April 21st. The book is the result of an international collaboration between ACU, the University of Derby and the University of London.
You're Hired! Job Hunting Online: The Complete Guide was written by Professor Tristram Hooley, University of Derby, Professor Jim Bright, School of Education, ACU North Sydney and David Winters, Head of the Careers Group at the University of London and is published by Trotman. Jim has an active collaboration with both institutions and last November gave his inaugural lecture as Visiting Professor in Career Development at the University of Derby entitled The Uncertain story of Career Development. A video of the lecture and a paper based on the talk are available from http://www.derby.ac.uk/research/icegs/.
The book covers thriving in a changing environment, accessing the right information online, how to sort the good from the bad information online, how to network effectively, becoming a great communicator online, building your brand, and managing what you share. It covers building a Linkedin profile, the power and perils of Twitter, how to make Facebook work for you, and learning to adapt to the continually changing demands of the labour market and the online world.
This is Professor Bright's 11th book and continues a pattern of writing research-focused books and also self-help books to promote evidence-based practice.
