ACU’s Christmas parties and the holiday period are a great opportunity to celebrate and relax after a busy year. Get the most out of the holiday season by taking care on the road and make sure your Christmas party is memorable for the right reasons.
What we do well…
ACU’s staff members continuously demonstrate high standards of conduct within the workplace and at work-related functions, including Christmas parties. They recognise that these parties are work functions and therefore the same standards of behaviour apply as in the workplace.
Most staff ‘play it safe’ at Christmas functions by mixing their alcohol intake with food and water, and catching a taxi or public transport home from parties if they have been drinking. They also make sure that they only buy appropriate Christmas gifts for their colleagues.
We know that you will keep up the University’s tradition of treating others with courtesy, dignity and respect over the Christmas period - and make the right choices about the content that you post on social media.
Keep Yourself Safe on the Roads
You are also encouraged to drive safely this summer. This time of year can be a hazardous time to be driving and can reduce your chances of injuring yourself and your passengers on the road by:
Taking regular breaks when you are taking road trips;
Reduce your speed in summer storms;
Maintain a safe following distance of two seconds, or more;
Don’t drive when you are tired;
Remain alert to traffic hazards; and
Stay patient in busy traffic.
We encourage you to make the most of the summer break by driving safely and reaching out to other people in the community. Whatever you do over the holidays, we hope you and your loved ones have a great time and wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
