But “R U OK?” is always a question that you should ask; if you see that a colleague might be struggling.
Over the next few weeks, we’re reminding all staff that conversations can change lives. R U OK? Day is a national day of action held on the second Thursday of September each year. This year, this important day falls on 8 September. The campaign reminds people to regularly check in with family, friends and colleagues about their wellbeing.
Wellbeing at work
Managers and supervisors at ACU are particularly encouraged to support and promote R U OK? Day within their teams, and to bring wellbeing conversations into regular team meetings.
As part of the R U OK? At Work campaign, ACU is providing resources for staff and supervisors that can assist in starting up a supportive R U OK? conversation in the workplace.
Asking this important question helps to:
Make a real difference to someone who is going through a tough time by letting them know that their colleagues care, and there is support available
Promote our Employee Assistance Program (a confidential counselling service that you can recommend to peers if you think they need support)
Fulfil our duty of care to contribute to a safe and healthy workplace.
All staff are encouraged to support the R U OK? campaign and make a positive impact by connecting with friends, colleagues and loved ones all year round and asking an important question. For more information, visit the R U OK? website.
