ACU staff feature in the latest film clip from X Factor star Jacinta Gulisano, Jump Up & Down 4 Kids.
Early in 2015, Australian Human Rights Commissioner Gillian Triggs lamented that she could not understand why more Australians were not "jumping up and down" about the policy of keeping children locked up in immigration detention.
She believed that if Australians really knew the impact on children of being in these places, they would not accept it happening.Jump Up & Down 4 Kids is project spearheaded by the Catholic Education Office (CEO) and made up of everyday Australians who do not accept that children should be kept in conditions that cause them serious harm.
It began with an invitation to anyone to take a photo or video of themselves jumping and post it on the campaign Facebook page.
The project built momentum and recently a song and music video by X Factor finalist Jacinta Gulisano has been released.
The song is a rallying cry for action for everyone who believes that every child has the right to live in an environment that is safe and where they can grow and thrive.
ACU Staff and students on the Strathfield Campus responded to the request from Mark Rix, Sydney CEO to participate in making the video footage to support the campaign.
