Ride the Night takes place on 30 January 2016 in Brisbane and Melbourne aims to raise awareness and funds to break the cycle of disadvantage among our young people.
Join fellow ACU riders and Ride the Night with us! Please contact Marijne Slager (Brisbane Campus) to express your interest in joining the ACU Cycling Team for Ride the Night.
This will be a great opportunity to unite bike riders (at all levels!) amongst ACU staff and students from different campuses.
Ride the Night was first organised in Melbourne in January this year, and will simultaneously take place in Brisbane, Melbourne and Hobart in 2016. Riders will ride through the streets of these three cities at night across a 70km route, with rest stops and entertainment along the way.
The start is at 10pm on Saturday 30 January and riders will finish around 6am with a well-deserved breakfast waiting for them. This event will raise funds for local charities - in Brisbane this is Brisbane Youth Service, Melbourne will raise funds for Youth Support + Advocacy Service (YSAS) as well as for Bicycle Network.
Given ACU's mission and the focus of many ACU projects and courses on both disadvantaged youth and exercise sciences, it will be great to have an ACU team at this event.
And, of course, it is a great way for staff and students to experience their cities in a unique way!
Please see the Ride the Night website for more information on entry, route, costs and the organisations supported by this event: http://ridethenight.org
The ACU team will be registered on 2 November 2015, so please contact Marijne Slager (firstname.lastname@example.org) to express your interest. Registrations to the team are possible until shortly before the event, although entry fees might rise.
