Join us for lunchtime basketball and volleyball in North Sydney
Published: Monday 13th April 2015
What do you do on your lunch break? In a large workplace such as ACU, it's often difficult to genuinely connect with colleagues outside of your department, so playing sport together is a perfect occasion for meeting new people and informal relationship building – why don't you consider joining our ACU Allstars?
Playing weekly lunchtime sport on the ACU Allstars team has created a whole new sense of community across the North Sydney Campus, seven ACU departments and even friends at nearby UBank.
Most recently the Allstars were runners up in the 2015 summer basketball competition and previously, the team were runners up in the 2014 winter netball competition. Jamie Denton from ACU Campus Operations was even awarded MVP of the whole summer basketball series!
Despite busy schedules, players say Tuesday lunchtime games are often the highlight of their week. The team takes a complementary shuttle to a nearby sports arena, hits the court for fast-paced 30 minute game, and returns to work pumped for the next win, all within an hour. The team's mix of skill and experience, lots of laughs and good hustle, seems to be a recipe for success and a renewed sense of community.
Join our team!
We are looking for more players for our basketball and volleyball teams. The autumn competition starts on Tuesday 21 April, lasts eight weeks and costs roughly $40 per person, per team. The games require a one hour commitment during lunchtime on either Tuesday or Thursday in North Sydney.
