From Bits to Atoms – the Consequences for Startups (a Swedish perspective)
The Internet and digital tools have changed the way entrepreneurs set up their businesses and new business models have emerged.
When Linux out-competed Microsoft it was the case of a community-based product (peer-production) being superior to a product produced by a large technology company. Can this process be transferred to other industries or the physical product market? This talk will highlight different aspects of the digital economy and what atoms can learn from bits.

Peter is a policy entrepreneur and innovation expert. He has co-developed the Open Innovation Program at the Swedish Innovation Agency (Vinnova). Prior to that he managed Forum for Innovation Management, an exclusive innovation policy network in Stockholm within a private foundation.
Peter has also worked for an early-stage venture capital firm, and managed one of Sweden’s most successful business incubators.
Peter holds a Ph.D. in innovation studies from Linköping University. He has been visiting researcher at Stanford and MIT. His research interests are the sources of innovation, innovation processes and how digital technologies transform industries.
