The University’s Human Resources and Payroll (HRP) system is being replaced in order to better cater for ACU’s changing needs. After a comprehensive evaluation and selection process, Aurion HRIS Software has been selected as the University’s new HRP solution to replace PayGlobal, Staff Connect and other HR systems.
The Aurion solution will provide a number of improvements for the University and for staff. There will be greater functionality in the payroll process together with better integration to the University’s finance system, and, greater access to data and reporting from the solution. For staff and managers, the solution offers a self-service portal which is similar to Staff Connect, but with expanded functionality that will remove many forms and replace them with online direct entry with approval workflows. Work to implement the new HRP solution has commenced, and Aurion will be introduced in 2018.
Why are we making the change?
A requirement to replace the University’s current HRP system, PayGlobal, was identified to support the University’s objective of achieving its excellence agenda. ACU’s current HRP has reached its end-of life period as it no longer supports the strategic and operational needs of the University, with some supporting processes being highly manual and labour intensive. Further, the HRP needs to better align and support the newly implemented finance system, TechOne.
Moving to the new HRP system will enable business process improvements in the creation, maintenance, management and reporting of employment records and position records. It will also improve the processing and management of the University’s payroll aligned to the University’s General Ledger.
Why Aurion was selected
Aurion HRIS Software was identified as the best function fit following a comprehensive evaluation and selection process. It enables the University to move to a web-based solution with more real-time access to employee data, processes and workflows, and will reduce a number of manual processes that are currently in place.
In the long term, the system also has greater capacity to support a number of key University processes such as management of performance, recruitment, Work Health and Safety and professional development.
Developed by an Australian organisation, Aurion HRIS Software has been in use since 1986. It is used across a number of sectors including government (Federal, State and Local) and the higher education sector (e.g. University of Queensland and Southern Cross University).
What will change?
Implementation of Aurion has commenced, and go-live is anticipated for end of quarter 1 2018. The introduction of Aurion will impact all staff members and managers, mainly because you access Staff Connect and this will look and behave differently, and because many existing paper-based processes will move to more effective electronic forms and workflows. More details on these changes will be communicated as the project progresses. Information on training, and user guides and videos to support staff to use Aurion will also be communicated prior to go-live.
