What is excellence in service for you?
Published: Monday 15th February 2016
Message from Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Dr Stephen Weller: What is excellence in service and what does it mean for you as an academic or professional staff member? Starting in March, several new workshops will be offered to provide staff with the knowledge and skills to understand excellence in the ACU context and identify opportunities for improvement. The workshops will assist in developing leadership skills, service delivery and processes.
Excellence in service and processes
The Building Service Excellence workshop has been designed for academic and professional staff. Service Excellence workshops conducted last year received positive feedback from staff who valued the opportunity to develop and understand service excellence in the ACU context. This workshop will explore the key principles of the ACU Service Matters Framework and provide practical examples of work practices that support, monitor and promote service improvements.
The Lean Fundamentals workshop is designed for professional and academic staff who work in teams that are involved in process or product improvements and would like to learn continuous improvement strategies and techniques. No prior knowledge of Lean is necessary to participate in the session. The workshop will be a useful resource for academic staff who review course curricula or design new courses as it provides simple tools to use the voice of their customers (the students) to inform their teaching practices and processes.
Excellence in leadership
ACU has partnered with the Australian Institute of Company Directors to deliver the Leadership & Accountability of the Supervisor Program for the first time in 2016. The program will equip managers and supervisors with governance, risk and financial management skills to enable them to make sound business decisions that align with the Mission and practice of the University.
Upon completion of the Program’s four modules, participants can choose to undertake an online exam in order to obtain a Foundations of Directorship Certificate.
I encourage you to register for one of these workshops by following the links provided above.
