Disability Services News

Published: Monday 7th September 2015

During September, Disability Services (DS) will be running staff information sessions on our campuses.  The purpose of the staff information sessions is to provide information on the work of DS, the processes, advice and requirements associated with the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005.  This is a great opportunity to discuss any questions you might have about this work. You will find campus specific information on these sessions on the Disability Services webpages at: https://students.acu.edu.au/773163

DS will also be providing a Disability Awareness Workshop during September for students.

You can increase your awareness and understanding of the Disability Standards for Education 2005 and your responsibilities as a staff member of ACU, by enrolling in the LEO modules similarly titled:  http://leo.acu.edu.au/course/view.php?id=7041

These modules will assist to build your awareness and understanding of the legal requirements which specify the provision of adjustments to students with a disability to ensure access to learning, assessment, practicums, facilities, services, and events.

There are currently 1449 students registered with DS involving 1076 Education Inclusion Plans.

ACU is above the sector average for retention of students with a disability, so thank you to all who have assisted with this great achievement.
