ACU Art Curator Caroline Field’s biography of Victorian artist Constance Stokes was recently published in the Australian Dictionary of Biography (ADB).
The ADB is a national co-operative enterprise founded and maintained by the Australian National University (ANU) to produce authoritative biographical articles on eminent people in Australia’s history. The ADB project has been operating since 1957.
While undertaking her Creative Fellowship at the State Library of Victoria in 2016, Caroline was invited to make a scholarly contribution to the ADB with an entry on Australian artist Constance Stokes.
“It was a wonderful opportunity, and indeed privilege, to provide a glimpse in to the life of this fascinating artist and to affirm her position as an acclaimed modernist artist,” Caroline said.
