Following the launch of the book Evidence Discovery and Assessment in Social Work Practice at Australian Catholic University Strathfield Campus on 10 November 2014, a second launch was hosted at Vic Books, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand on 10 December 2014.
A total of 77 people from the social work and academic professions attended the launch of this ground-breaking book, which overviews the nature of evidence-based interventions and their application to social work practice. Professor Tony Ward, Director of Clinical Psychology Programmes, Victoria University of Wellington compered the launch. Other speakers included Dr Margaret Pack’s co-editor and author, Justin Cargill, Subject Librarian, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.
The book is a compilation of chapters on evidence-based practice in social work practice, written by international social work educators from the UK and Australasia. The seventeen chapter edition is one of a series published by an American Publisher, IGI Global.
Evidence Discovery and Assessment in Social Work Practice was contributed to and edited by Dr Margaret Pack, Associate Professor of Social Work and Deputy Head, School of Allied Health, Faculty of Health Sciences, ACU. Justin Cargill authored two chapters on searching for evidence. He sourced materials for the authors and completed final copy editing at the invitation of Dr Pack.
A further launch is planned in February 2015 at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand.
