Associate Professor Marj Horne retires

Associate Professor Marj Horne from ACU Education (Vic) will retire next week after serving 21 years at the University. Marj has been an esteemed member of the Faculty of Education and subsequently, the National School of Education for 21 years. She has been a caring and much appreciated colleague, as well as a prolific researcher and an effective leader in her roles as Associate Dean, Head of School and Deputy Head of School.
Marj has been involved in mathematics education since beginning teaching in 1969. Her research interests are varied, including work with home, school and community partnerships, research into early numeracy development, an interest in professional development and an interest in specific areas of mathematics learning such as geometry and algebra.
Marj is Immediate Past-President of the Mathematical Association of Victoria. Her experience with quantitative data has meant that she has contributed to many research projects with analysis of data and advice on methodology. Her contributions will always be valued and remembered.
Professor Alex Kostogriz, State Head of Education (VIC), National School of Education, Faculty of Education and Arts said although we will miss Marj dearly, she has worked hard all of her career and has earned the opportunity to enjoy time with her family and grandchildren.
