Amendments to the Policy Development and Review Policy and Procedures
Published: Thursday 11th January 2018
Following a period of re-drafting and consultation, amendments to the policy development framework were approved by the Vice-Chancellor and President at the end of last year and came into effect from 1 January 2018.
Copies of the amended policy and procedure can be located on the policy library via the following links:
Revised templates and new policy development resources have also been uploaded to the policy library to assist staff in developing new (or to review existing) policies and procedures. In summary, the amendments relate to:
Change of title to encompass ‘review’ element.
Change to the Responsible Officer to reflect the transition from OPSM to the Directorate of Governance.
Change to the Governing Authority on account of proposed amendments to PQRC’s Terms of Reference
Cover pages clarify the date of first approval as distinct from the date of approval(s) of subsequent revision(s). A revision schedule inserted at the back of the policy to record editorial, minor and major amendments will establish an audit trail in lieu of description of revision on the cover page.
Establishes a role for the Directorate of Governance and formalises the role of the Digital Operations Team with respect to publishing and web-editing to reflect what is occurring in practice.
In addition to the reference to the Delegations, a reference has been inserted to a committee’s terms of reference for remit to either endorse or approve the policy.
Resolved an outstanding issue with respect to the application of a watermark when submitting documents to the endorsing or approving body.
Includes a requirements that proposed policies be submitted with an accompanying brief (template provided) when seeking endorsement or approval.
Inserted a ‘Principles’ clause to articulate the devolved model of policy development adopted by ACU.
Inserted a ‘Glossary of Terms’ clause to remove repetitive in-text definitions throughout the policy and procedure.
Clarified that a policy only needs to be formally rescinded if not replaced.
Updated template documentation to reflect ACU’s new brand guidelines.
