ACU Student Leaders: Election period ahead
Published: Monday 8th September 2014
Student leaders have responsibilities that are both enjoyable and rewarding. They not only develop leadership, management and organisational skills but also put them into practice by participating in University decision making. These skills enhance the resumes of student leaders.
Student Senator and Campus Student Association Management Committee President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary positions are now open for nominations.
Students have received an email inviting them to consider standing for these positions. Further information is available on the Student Elections homepage: this includes short videos about joining the Student Association and standing for a student leadership position students.acu.edu.au/elections.
The Student Senator is a member of ACU Senate, the governing body of the University. The Senator is also on Academic Board, which determines and advises the Senate on academic matters. He or she assumes the role of President of ACUNSA (ACU National Student Association) which is comprised of presidents of the Campus Student Associations and the Postgraduate Students Association. The Student Senator provides advice to the University on behalf of the students.
Campus Student Associations represent students in University decision making processes and are responsible for organising a range of social activities and other student initiatives on a local and national level.
If more than one candidate stands for a position it goes to election. All students may vote for the Student Senator. Only Student Association members may vote for Student Association positions.
Your support in encouraging students to nominate for a leadership position is appreciated.
