The tertiary sector’s leading sustainability body has short-listed ACU’s sustainability program for an award in this year’s Green Gown Awards, with winners set to be announced on 22 October.
The Green Gown Awards are decided annually by the non-profit representative body, Australasian Campuses Toward Sustainability (ACTS). This is the first year that ACU has nominated for the awards, and is short-listed in the ‘Best Newcomer’ category for institutions with relatively new sustainability programs.
ACU’s nomination is considered strong, with a broad environmental sustainability program that in just a few years has established ACU as Australia’s most energy-efficient University, and increased its water-efficiency and recycling rates to some of the best levels in the sector.
The nomination also acknowledges ACU’s highly successful community engagement program, with the newer environmental programs rounding out the University’s commitment to a more sustainable world.
The Green Gown Awards are included in the ACTS annual conference, which is scheduled from 21 to 23 October at Deakin University’s Waterfront campus in Geelong, Victoria. More details on the conference are available here.
