Last month, the Provost Professor Pauline Nugent and the Executive Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences Professor Michelle Campbell visited the University of North Carolina (UNC) to build on the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding and to explore opportunities for further collaboration.
“I am pleased that one of my office’s priorities, ACU’s internationalisation strategy, is being expanded to include this new partnership with University of North Carolina,” said Professor Nugent. “The opportunities to develop with this high profile US institution will focus on our global strategies as well as staff and student exchange opportunities in Health Sciences and Law.”
Speaking of the partnership, UNC Nursing Dean Nena Peragallo Montano said: “This partnership presents a wonderful opportunity for the School of Nursing. We are delighted to be able to provide our students and faculty access to global collaborations with their peers at such an esteemed institution.” This builds on a longstanding, strong relationship between Dean Peragallo and Professor Campbell, that began when Dean Peragallo was Dean at University of Miami. Professor Campbell is an Adjunct Professor with UNC at Chapel Hill.
In addition to continuing discussions with the UNC School of Nursing, the delegation met with representatives from the Gillings School of Global Public Health, Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy in the School of Medicine, School of Law, School of Social Work, and the Departments of Exercise and Sport Science and Psychology and Neuroscience in the College of Arts and Sciences.
During meetings with UNC’s Global Relations office and with Executive Vice-Provost and Chief International Officer Ron Strauss, the delegation were also able to share strategies and perspectives around globalization.
