Last Tuesday 22 September the Brisbane and Melbourne Campus debating teams went head to head in the 2015 National ACU Debating Competition Grand Final. It was a high standard of debating on the topic: Australia should continue to place asylum seekers in detention and process them off shore.
Melbourne Campus (arguing the negative) was successful and won the debate to be crowned the 2015 National ACU Debating Champions. Melbourne Campus will have pride possession of the Debating Shield for the next 12 months.
Congratulations to the Melbourne Debating Team consisting of Lexie Roso, Rebecca Wain, Cane Thompson (pictured above). Well done also to the Brisbane Debating Team consisting of Michael Brealey, Joseph Kerby and Greg Hyslop for getting through to the Grand Final and debating in fine form.
Thank you to all the staff and students for their support and involvement in this national competition.
