CRICOS Code Update
CRICOS Code Update
All CRICOS codes must now be updated.
ACU has now changed from four CRICOS codes to one: 00004G. All staff are required to update their email signatures and other saved templates, such as letterheads to reflect this change. To do this, the irrelevant numbers: 00112C, 00873F, 00885B must be deleted from email signature disclaimers and template footers.
This update needs to be performed by individual staff members at their earliest convenience.
CRICOS stands for Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students. It is managed by the Department of Education under ESOS (Education Services for Overseas Students) legislative framework http://cricos.deewr.gov.au.
In order to be able to offer programs and manage enrolments internationally, ACU is required to comply with the ESOS framework. This legislation requires ACU to include the CRICOS Code on all marketing collateral for the purpose of recruiting students and in all correspondence with international students. The ACU website, email footer and major publications, such as the students guide, all contain ACU’s CRICOS Code.
The change to one code from four should enable a smoother, less confusing service to international students wanting to study at ACU.
More information on the CRICOS code, please refer to the attached document or alternatively contact the International office on International.Compliance@acu.edu.au
Further information on CRICOS:
What is CRICOS?
CRICOS stands for Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students. The CRICOS website is managed by the Department of Education under the ESOS (Education Services for Overseas Students) legislative framework. http://cricos.deewr.gov.au/
How does CRICOS relate to our courses?
CRICOS is a register of all institutions approved to provide courses to international students.. This means that if a course is not CRICOS Registered, we are legally unable to recruit international students (on student visas) into the course. This also applies to where the course is offered. For example ACU does not currently have CRICOS registration to offer courses at our Adelaide campus. We also don’t have CRICOS registration for some courses such as our Bachelor of Paramedicine, which is why we don’t promote such courses to international students.
Can online courses be CRICOS registered?
International students on a student visa need to attend at least one on-campus unit a semester and may undertake no more than 25% of their total course by distance and/or online learning. Therefore, courses which are delivered fully online, cannot obtain CRICOS registration. This is why ACU International is unable to promote fully online courses to international students.
What is ACU’s CRICOS Provider Code?
Our CRICOS Code is 00004G. This year we went from having separate CRICOS Codes for each state to just the one.
What is the purpose of CRICOS?
The primary purpose of CRICOS registration is quality assurance. The international education sector is highly regulated to protect the interests and welfare of international students. By having the CRICOS Online Register, prospective students can search institutions and courses with the knowledge that registered institutions/courses are approved by the Australian Government.
CRICOS and marketing
We are required by legislation to include our CRICOS Code on all marketing collateral for the purpose of recruiting students and in all correspondence with international students. You will notice that our website, email footer and major publications, such as the students guide, all contain our CRICOS Code.
