New Director for Learning and Teaching Centre
It is with great pleasure that I write to inform you that Professor Kevin Ashford-Rowe, the new Director, Learning and Teaching Centre (LTC) has commenced at ACU.
Professor Ashford-Rowe brings with him extensive experience in the strategic leadership, management, development and implementation of innovative and flexible education and training delivery. He has a broad learning and teaching background with experience in the tertiary education sector at the academic and vocational levels. He possesses excellent senior leadership skills and experience obtained from previous senior roles within the Higher Education and Defence sectors.
Professor Ashford-Rowe possesses a track record of success in developing innovative ideas and driving changes in organisational practice to achieve an increasingly effective and student-centred learning and teaching experience. He has a thorough curriculum design and development background, supported by an excellent understanding of the ways information and communication technology can be applied to the student’s learning outcomes face-to-face, online and by distance.
Professor Ashford-Rowe holds a Doctor of Education – with a particular focus upon Authentic Assessment, a Graduate Diploma – Interactive Multimedia, a Masters in Education – specialising in Educational Multimedia, a Masters in Professional Studies – with a focus on Adult Education, a Post Graduate Certificate of Education, and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours).
Immediately prior to this appointment Professor Ashford-Rowe served as Director, Information Services (Learning and Teaching) at Griffith University where his work involved the development of academic staff in the increased use of information and communication technology to enhance their teaching. He was the business owner of the University’s virtual learning environments and technology in all of the physical learning and teaching environments. He was also the principal advisor to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) on the design and use of the physical learning and teaching environments. He led student support services in academic, information and IT literacy, and a team of eighty staff across a range of professional role groups and service delivery areas.
