The Chancellor, General Peter Cosgrove, has asked me to update you on the development plan for the Strathfield Campus.
As you are aware, the University has been working on a plan for the upgrade of the campus, which was lodged with the Department of Planning and Infrastructure at the beginning of this year.
After reviewing submissions from residents, and local and state government agencies, ACU has made some amendments and this week lodged the revised Concept Plan with the Department.
We are confident that the amendments will address the concerns raised by residents over the past few months and provide a good outcome for the site and local area.
You may also be aware that Strathfield Council has claimed a discrepancy exists between approved student numbers and current student numbers attending the campus – and they have now commenced legal proceedings in the Land and Environment Court.
ACU has always, and continues to comply with the campus consents for student numbers on site and we are confident of a positive outcome.
As the matter is due to go before the court later this year, the University will not be commenting in the media until the matter is resolved.
