When you first launch Echo 360 Personal Capture, you probably won't be logged in. You can still make recordings on your computer, but you will need to be logged in to share your videos or publish your work into LEO.
A browser window will open up. Type in your ACU email address and click 'SUBMIT'. Choose 'Australian Catholic University' as your institution and click 'SUBMIT'.
If you are already logged in to another ACU system, Personal Capture may log you in straight away, or there may be one more step where you have to type in your full ACU login and password details.
You can see that I am now logged in because my name appears at the top of the Echo 360 Personal Capture window.
If you have more than one screen, you can choose which one you would like to capture during the presentation. Alternatively, you can select your webcam as the primary input if you would just like to make a video recording of yourself speaking.
If you have chosen one of your screens, you can also select your webcam as a secondary input. This way, your students will see both your screen and a video of yourself speaking.
Click 'Record' to start recording. You will be given a 5 second countdown.
You can then open up your PowerPoint presentations or whatever method you choose to create the presentation. Make it full screen, so students don't see everything that is on your desktop.
Run through your presentation, trying to keep it short. For long presentations, try to chunk them into multiple short presentations. If you make a mistake keep going. You can edit out mistakes later.
Here I am clicking through my slides. When done, click on the Personal Capture icon in your Windows taskbar and stop the recording.
Once finalised, you can edit the recording. At the least you can tidy up by trimming the start and end of the recording by dragging the small triangles in the timeline and clicking 'Make Cut'. You can also cut out parts from the middle where you had to repeat because of a mistake.
Click the publish icon to upload this video and make it available to students. You can only publish if you have logged in.
Select the LEO unit to upload to, or simply select 'Personal Library'. You can always move the recording between LEO units later.
Give the recording a sensible name and click 'Upload'. If you selected a LEO unit, the video should be available to students through the External Tool that has been added to your unit.
