What is LEO?
LEO is the online learning ecosystem at ACU. It is a suite of technologies and applications that support learning and teaching. As a new or ongoing academic it is important to become familiar with how to access and navigate LEO.
LEO is an acronym for Learning Environment Online.
At LEO's core is the Moodle Learning Management System (LMS). This is where lecturers will upload resources for their students and create learning activities such as Forums, Lessons, Quizzes and Wikis. Assessment, feedback and marking will also be done through LEO in most cases.
This diagram shows the different components of the LEO environment
Integrated into Moodle are various other learning and assessment tools including Portfolio, online Live Classroom, Lecture Capture, Video Streaming, a Content Management System and Text Matching through the Turnitin tool.
LEO can be used for:
- creating and delivering your units online and for blended learning
- managing learning materials and activities
- managing communication with students
- managing assessment tasks, feedback and marking.
