Guidelines to Enhance design 1


Within higher education it is becoming increasingly important to understand the place of technology in student learning, professional practice and social interaction. Teaching with technology is not just about keeping up to date with the latest tools. It is about understanding the role of digital literacy plays in student learning and their future workplace environment and knowing how to successfully support learning through the use of technology.

The purpose of the Guidelines is to enhance the use of the Learning Environment Online (LEO), and consolidate the foundations established for university teaching at ACU.

The unit design should support the provision of engaging, active learning experiences for a diverse range of students.
All communication within LEO, amongst staff and students, is intentionally designed to support learning and teaching and to facilitate high achievement of the unit learning outcomes.
The presentation of the unit should make it easy for all students to access and work with the LEO unit content, activities and assessments.
Learner support resources
As students have disparate levels of digital literacy, especially in a formal academic setting, they require support to participate effectively in their units.
