Professional development

There are many opportunities for professional development in learning and teaching at ACU; through faculties, the Learning and Teaching Centre and other internal and external providers. This section outlines some of the possibilities.

  • Introduction to learning and teaching for new academic staff is a free workshop held at the start of each semester. It is usually offered face-to-face, but can also be undertaken via online resources and webinars.
  • The Graduate Certificate in Higher Education is designed to help you to promote your career as a tertiary educator and to contribute directly to the further development of a culture of excellence in learning and teaching – particularly at ACU. Substantially revised at the end of 2015, the new and entirely online course supports you with the achievement of learning outcomes that are directly related to enhancing your capabilities in learning and teaching in Higher Education.
  • The Learning and Teaching Centre runs a number of LEO professional development face-to-face workshops, on a range of LEO topics before the start of each semester.
  • eLearning 101 is a regular online webinar series run during semester. The eLearning team from the Learning and Teaching Centre presents and discusses a different topic each week, followed by 30 minutes of open questions and answers on anything eLearning at ACU. Sessions are recorded so they can be viewed at a later time.
