Based on his successful experience introducing Peer Observation and Review of Teaching (PORT) program in the Division of Law at Macquarie University, the Deputy Provost sponsored a project to design and publish a PORT model contextualised for the Australian Catholic University and to used by its Faculties.
This project aims: to contribute to the improvement of teaching practice at ACU, and to help establish communities of practice based on effective peer observation and review by providing a PORT model that is simple and easy to adopt and implement.
Effective peer observations and reviews that use this model may also provide meaningful bases for discussions on professional development and promotional criteria for teaching staff and their supervisors.
To publish a PORT model contextualised for ACU in consultation with Associate Deans, Learning and Teaching.
To design and develop the ACU PORT model for easy adoption and implementation by Faculty staff.
To assess the ACU PORT model’s ease of use for Faculty staff and make appropriate adjustments to published materials.
