Early Childhood Book Launch

Professor Deborah Harcourt, Professor of Early Childhood Education based at the Brisbane Campus has launched her first edited book (in collaboration with Bob Perry and Tim Waller). Researching young children’s perspectives: Debating ethics and dilemmas of education research with children, is published by Routledge UK.

All contributors to the book are members of the Special Interest Group: Children’s Perspectives in Research co-chaired by Deborah, and Johanna Eiransdottir (University of Iceland) for the European Early Childhood Research Association.

“This has been a project two years in the making with contributions from 12 author teams (27 writers in total) from 9 countries and we are very proud to be able to present both a rigorous theoretical discussion and high quality exemplars from the field of researching with children,” said Deborah.

The Special Interest Group, established in 2004 by Deborah Harcourt and Alison Clark (Open University UK), currently comprises 45 members from 10 countries who meet annually at the EECERA conference. In addition to their AGM in Geneva this September, the group will also hold a special symposium at the University of Verona, Italy immediately following the conference to discuss future research and publication projects for international collaborations.
