ACU a member of independent news site "The Conversation"

Dear colleagues,
ACU has become a member of the independent news website - The Conversation – that gives you, as an academic, the opportunity to write about the issues of the day for a public audience.
I encourage you to register to write at or to pitch your ideas to their newsroom:
The Conversation is an independent news site, operated by experienced journalists, featuring content that is read by academics, professionals, politicians, journalists and the general public. The site offers news, comment and analysis across key areas including arts, business, economy, education, environment and energy, health and medicine, politics, science and technology.
Articles published on the website are free to read and also freely republished under a Creative Commons agreement, which broadens the audience reach. For example, the Vice-Chancellor’s article about the incoming Prime Minister immediately after the election – The Tony Abbott I Know – has been viewed more than 15,000 times on The Conversation’s site, reprinted on other news and social media sites in Australia and New Zealand, and generated almost 300 comments. Other ACU commentators already contribute to the site, but as we are now a member university it will give you greater opportunities to publish (and publicise) your work.   
Editors at The Conversation work with authors to shape their research or their editorial comment into an article that is easily accessible to a lay audience without losing the integrity of the expertise or the argument. Authors may submit items to be published or may be commissioned to write a piece that is pertinent to their professional knowledge, and they retain final sign-off before publication.
I see this as an opportunity for our academics to engage in wider public debates on a respected news platform, deepen the community’s understanding of the valuable research we undertake at ACU and raise awareness of our academic profile.
