The ACU Undergraduate Course Guide and the FHS Postgraduate Course Guide are supplied by MER. A stock of these is kept by Faculty Marketing and/ or Faculty/ School staff on each campus. If you require copies, please contact FHS Marketing. The publications can be downloaded from the ACU website as well as from Team space.
We are currently working on the 2017 publications for use in 2016. Heads, Deputy Heads, and Course Coordinators are included in the review process. The 2017 publications will be available early next year and we will advise your School administration accordingly. If you have any queries, please contact FHS Marketing.
The Faculty has participated in numerous events this year, sponsoring over 25 external conferences/ exhibitions, including the Australian College of Nursing exhibitions, the Australian Psychological Society Exhibition, the International Mental Health Conference; the St Vincent’s Health Australia Quality Awards Senior Leadership Team Conference and Innovation and Excellence Awards for which ACU was a Platinum sponsor, the Occupational Therapy Australia’s 26th National Conference, the SimHealth Conference, the Paramedics Australasia International Conference, the 26th International Nursing Research Congress in Puerto Rico and the Postgraduate MBA Study Expos.
The Faculty and its Schools hosted over 20 events, including the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine’s Postgraduate Clinical School Info Evenings, and in Brisbane its 23rd Fabiola Oration and Convocation, the School of Exercise Science’s High Performance Sport Seminar Series, the School of Allied Health's Final Year Student Conference, the IFCU FEA FHS Q&A Panel and Cocktail Function, the 25th Anniversary Faculty Seminars, the launch of the FHS Positioning Statement and Values on each campus, and the FHS L&T Showcase.
Staff from the Faculty participated in, and helped ensure the success of over 35 ACU Student Recruitment events including Advisory Conference, University Experience, Mid-Year Information Evenings, Virtual Mid-Year events, Open Days, and most recently, Discover Postgraduate events. ACU Make the Right Choice is the final series of events for 2015 and the first for 2016, and will provide ACU with its last opportunity to influence prospective students in their choice of course and university.

ACU Brand Strategy
In an increasingly competitive environment, universities need to determine a point of differentiation, and emphasise this within the marketplace. Following the lead of a number of institutions, ACU is now reviewing its market proposition to confirm its competitive advantage. The University recently launched the ACU Brand Project consisting of several stages of work:
- Brand research;
- Brand strategy development and implementation; and
- A plan for ongoing review and maintenance.
A brand agency, Push Collective, has been appointed and the research phase is already underway and will run up until March 2016 with a number of discussions taking place in the new year with staff, students, prospective students and external stakeholders.
ACU Web Strategy
ACU has also engaged a digital agency to undertake a current state audit of ACU’s web presence with consideration to competitor activity, sector activity globally, and best practice. The audit will include a focus on 5 core customer segments - visitors, prospective undergraduates, prospective postgraduates, current students and staff. From this audit, a future state vision will be developed based on ACU’s digital requirements and then a gap analysis conducted comparing the current state to future vision, in order to assess and to determine what steps need to be taken.

Faculty web stats
From January 1 2015 – October 29 2015 the Faculty of Health Sciences webpages received 125,064 sessions and 90,708 users. During the same timeframe in 2014 we received 81,748 sessions and 64,875 users, meaning our web traffic has increased by a significant 53% since last year.
Our number one faculty web page in 2015 was the content page, “What’s the difference between psychology and counselling." Content pages offering information to web browsers are a great way to attract sessions, boost SEO and showcase ACU as at the forefront of knowledge in our discipline areas.
Course browser web stats
The most popular postgraduate course viewed on our course browser from January 1 2015 – October 29 2015 was the Master of Psychology Clinical and the most popular undergraduate course was the Bachelor of Nursing.
ACU website developments in 2015
Our new discipline pages went live in May this year. They sit a level higher than the course browser and feature staff and student profiles, professional recognition information, a useful overview of each area of study, with links to more specific detail on the course browser.
The Faculty of Health Sciences has divided its 21 key discipline areas into 7 headings.
- Allied Health
- Exercise Science
- Nursing and Midwifery
- Psychology and Counselling
- Social Work
Moving forward, the way we communicate course information to future students will be through the discipline format. The rationale behind this re-ordering is that users of our website, future students and stakeholders are much more likely to search by discipline area than they are by Faculty or School.
Web responsive design
In March this year we introduced a web responsive design in order to provide an optimal viewing experience for users. Users can now visit the ACU website across a range of devices and experience easy reading and navigation with minimal resizing and scrolling (from desktop computer monitors to mobile phones). This responsive design came in time for the Google algorithm change in April 2015 which now takes into account whether your website is fully optimised for mobile.
We now have some exciting new tools available to better present our faculty pages. These include: accordions, pop up boxes, call-to-action buttons, banner size links, tabs, alert info boxes, photo galleries and greater flexibility with our page layouts.
We have again listed the suite of High Performance Sport programs on the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences - Bases Course finder. Our 2014-2015 listing delivered positive results: between September 1 2014 and August 31 2015 the ACU website received 64 page views and 57 unique page views from the Bases website. That averages over one visit per week.
