Main events for 2013 and student highlights of 2012 for the School of Allied and Public Health.

 

Successful completion of 1st year of Bachelor of Occupational Therapy on Melbourne Campus in 2012

  • Led by Professor Christine Imms and Dr Loretta Sheppard the first cohort of occupational therapy students completed year 1 in 2012
  • Growing teaching team including Daniel Clohesy, Alexandra Logan, Celia Marston and Eli Chu
  • Ready to implement year 2 and bring on our new cohort of 137 first year students

Introduction of Applied Public Health on Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne Campuses

  • Led by Associate Professor Shawn Somerset supported by Dr Liz McInnes in NSW and Dr Aziz Rahman in Melbourne
  • Total cohort 35 students:  all places filled on Melbourne campus, small student cohorts on North Sydney and Brisbane campuses
  • Development of two dual 4-year degrees in Public Health: Health Science/Public Health and Public Health/Global Studies for 2014 first intake
  • One successful PhD student confirmation in 2012: Ms Arpita Das

Introduction of Bachelor of Speech Pathology on Nth Sydney and Melbourne Campuses

  • Led by Dr Diane Jacobs in Melbourne and Dr Geraldine Bricker-Katz in Nth Sydney, along with Marie Atherton and Kerri Tofari-Eecen
  • Very strong interest in the course and cohorts of 85 and 70 students respectively

Introduction of Bachelor of Occupational Therapy on Nth Sydney Campus

  • Led by Dr Elspeth Froude along with Julia Schmidt and Marian Myers-Braun
  • A cohort of 85 students

New administration appointments

  • Including our Administration Team Leader, James Morrison, joining Suzanne Fitzgerald
