Professor Mary Courtney has worked in tertiary education for 24 years. She commenced as Head, School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine at ACU in January 2012, having previously worked at University of New England Armidale for 11 years and at Queensland University of Technology for 13 years. She recently returned to Australia after a year at University of British Columbia.
Professor Courtney's research interest include:
quality of life and family care giving
aged care and chronic disease
Professor Courtney has authored over 110 refereed articles, 21 book chapters and 7 monographs. She has also received significant funding from ARC Discovery grants, ARC Linkage grants and NHMRC.
Over the coming year accreditation of both the nursing and midwifery programs will be a major focus of activity as will be the establishment of a national governance structure within the School.
